“Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed. For they did not yet understand the scripture that he had to rise from the dead.” (John 20:8-9)
The major theme for this Easter Sunday focuses on the triumphant Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who has conquered sins and death, and obtained for us the glory of Eternal Life.
Easter is the greatest and the most important feast in the Church’s liturgical celebration for several reasons: (1) It celebrates the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which is the basis of our Christian faith. (2) It is the greatest miracle and the central theme of the “kerygma” or preaching of the apostles. (3) It is the guarantee of our own resurrection for those who believe in Him. (4) It is a feast that gives us hope and encouragement to trust in God’s divine justice and mercy that goodness will conquer evil forever. (5) It gives meaning to our faith, the communal prayer, our fight against temptation, and our freedom and courage to work for the kingdom of God.
Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who is the bridge that connects believers and God, we, Christians, are celebrating our safe passage to an even more wonderful homeland, the heavenly paradise. Jesus Christ is the bridge by which we can cross the chasm from sin to forgiveness, slavery to freedom, darkness to light, self to God, sadness to joy, hate to love, and death to life.
God does not want us holding a relationship of Transaction but Transformation. Therefore, Dynamic Christian disciples are those who (1) BELIEVE, (2) GROW, (3) SERVE, (4) LOVE and (5) LEAD others to Jesus. Today’s topic invites us to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to imitate and follow him more closely, to repent our sins, to exercise our Christian stewardship, to use our time, treasure, and talents to love God above all and to love our neighbors as ourselves, participating in the works of mercy, to accomplish God’s will in our lives to glorify God.
How can we help each other live the lives of resurrection people, not to lie buried in the tomb of our sins, but to live a joyful, peaceful life with the resurrected Lord in all the events of our lives?
Wishing everyone a very happy and blessed Easter Season.
