“Simon Peter answered him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.” (John 6:68-69).
The major theme for this 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time emphasizes that the choices we make in a crisis will impact our lives. A crisis is a turning point, a moment of decision that will determine a future course or direction of our lives; it is a time of sifting and separating and being committed to a choice.
Therefore, a crisis may not only be a time for worry in the face of perceived peril, but a time for exhilaration in the face of perceived opportunity.
Christian life is a series of daily choices either for God or against God, as we choose to live out or reject the Truth He has revealed to us through His prophets in the Old Testament and especially through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ in the New Testament.
The fundamental choice we make during a crisis determines how we live our lives, deciding whom we will serve and eventually forming who we will become.
God wants us to choose Him through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. God does not want us holding a relationship of Transaction but Transformation. Therefore, Dynamic Christian disciples are those who (1) BELIEVE, (2) GROW, (3) SERVE, (4) LOVE and (5) LEAD others to Jesus. Today’s topic invites us to choose God to serve Him, to repent our sins, reflect on our vocation of dynamic Christian discipleship to live a holy life to fulfill God’s will and obtain our salvation.
How can we become authentic Christian disciples to choose and stand for Christ and embrace the Church’s teachings to face the hardship in our lives to build our faith community?
Wishing everyone a blessed week in the Lord.
